I've been so busy with work lately that I havent been posting anything. Nothing much actually, though i am still in shock at how work has a way of piling up. It is very scary.
Well, I just thought that I will put up some random pictures. :)

This is the road I take to work everyday. My feet tend to drag themselves at this point.

Christmas in construction (they are still putting things up)

does everyone agree?

i was feeling really bored so i thought to occupy myself by burning some compilation cds for myself and friends today. I wanted to keep my mind off things (the all-important thing is to keep my mind off thinking about how i have to wake up at 7 in the morning to go to work tomorrow!! aarrggg!).

well, i wished i had the patience to label each track properly and put them into neat, organised folders, and of cos i dont cos i almost killed myself doing it. It's really hard! I mean, I'm anal-retentive sometimes when i can be bothered (oh dear, that just sounded like a contradiction) but this is just beyond me. I have about 900 tracks on kazaa and it will take me till forever to get them sorted out.

I meant to post the other day (friday i think) but something was up with Blogger and I couldnt. i know we shouldn't complain cos it's free and everything but blogger has been giving lots of people problems lately, no?

Well, I lost the euphoria I had on Thursday (my last paper) cos I couldnt post. But in short, what happened was that I saw that cute guy again during my paper, in the same room and very very near me. I have to keep telling myself that I'm sitting for a very important paper and I shouldnt stare that much. Thank goodness the paper was relatively easy, otherwise I would be in deep trouble.

Now that I'm reading what I have just wrote on the screen, it's really not that exciting anymore. It's really become a kind of "so what!" situation, cos i'm too scared to go up to say hi.

/wuss
p.s.: and i'll probably never see him again. *sob*
p.p.s: still looking for decent image hosts..

As much as I wanted to go out and take some pictures around town today, I resisted because I thought I wouldnt be able to deal with the guilt of not cramming for my paper for Thursday. As it turned out, I didnt do much cos I was taking pictures of random things around my room.

btw, does anyone know if there is a decent online photo storage site? Preferably free, cos I'm just starting out. I have an account but it's only 5mb! More space!!

Here's me, with glasses.

2 down, 1 more to go!

I finished the 2nd of my 3 papers for the semester today. It was an open book paper but these questions tend to throw people off somewhat. Of course, I'm not expecting to be able to answer the question just by looking at my lecture notes but today's question took a bit of a mulling over, thus wasting some precious time.

And no matter how organised your notes are, you are going to spend at least 3 minutes (like me) panicking about whether I have actually forgotten to bring a particular reading/article or something. For open book papers, one often run the risk of bringing too much stuff.

I don't know if some of you guys will remember but I posted about my ex-bf's friend a while back and how he is, you know, kind of cute. Well, he was in the same examination room as I was and he was sitting near me too in the next row! Is this a sign!? There are thousands (ok maybe not) of rooms designated for the examination period and he has to be in mine! Wow! I was actually thinking of going to say hi after the paper but he left about 25 minutes before the paper ends and I never get to say hi.

oh well.
There's another paper I have next Thursday.

I just finished my first paper. I wish I knew how it really went, but frankly, I dont even know how to start. The first section was not too bad, at least I sorta know what I'm talking about but it went downhill for the second and last section. I think it should be not too bad but it's not going to be great.

I have another paper on Friday but that's an open book paper so that's a relief. It's on film and narration so that can't be too bad as well.

In other news, I realise the other day that the book I have ordered from abebooks has not arrived and the stupid part is I have ordered that 2 months ago!! I emailed the bookseller and was told that yes I'm right, the book should have arrived years ago, and that I should contact abebooks for a refund. Now this is very irritating cos firstly, he did not offer any apologies whatsoever, and second, he does not even suggest anything constructive at all. Damn it! I need that book for my dissertation as well.

Anyone else has horror stories like these?

Tomorrow will be my first paper. I'm really quite nervous about it. It's on "concept of the author," and I will be tested on Augustine, Dante, Chaucer, Machiavelli, Shakespeare (Henry V) and Milton. God!!
I can't believe that even today, during revision, I'm still learning about things I didnt know about previously.
I'm so screwed.

Now, where's that panic button!?

A decision has finally been made: I will be going for the RHCP on Dec 8.

The decision has been influenced by a number of factors, listed below:
1. My friend had an extra ticket, which she had asked me previously, but I had declined because I thought I was going to be low on dough.

2. The reason I thought I was going to be low on dough is because I was supposed to go on a weekend trip to KL, Malaysia in a week or 2 with some other friends. Because of a horrible irresolvable conflict of schedules, they are going this week (during my exams!) without me.

So yes, despite the seemingly illogical (as Taz puts it aptly, "It's free, for emo's sakes!") decision, I'm going for RHCP (It had better be good!!) I'm getting the S$100 ticket (which works out to be about maybe US75) so let's hope it's a good seat (again, it'd better be!)

Brandtson is coming to town! And they are performing for free too! The only glitch is that the concert is on the SAME day as the RHCP! Of all the 365 days in a year! Damn it! What am I going to do??!!

Red Hot Chilli Peppers is coming to town!
Tickets are already on sale but they are really really expensive. The tickets for the mosh pit will set you back by about US100! That's exhorbitant isnt it? It's like daylight robbery! Well, I'm too old to get smashed around in the pit (and I am too small-sized to push my weight around) so if I'm going at all, I'll probably settle for middle-priced seats and then try and make my way down later.

Wow. Thinking about this, I havent been to a concert for a while now; this is due to the fact that we dont get loads of people coming down dying to perform for us in this little country. The last band that came down (worth watching) was a Coldplay/Travis doublebill. That was really really excellent. We got good seats for a good price too, which was great. And Coldplay performed "In My Place" which just blew our minds (that was before the release of their new album).

Oasis was supposed to come our way but under "advisement from the British government about the threats in this area," they decide to give it a miss. The wusses!

I gave myself an 'off' day today from all that exam cramming. I went out with a good friend that I havent seen for months and we went for Jap food at a restaurant. It's actually not a restaurant restaurant cos we just sit ourselves at a booth and pick the sushi of our choice from the conveyor belt running through the entire restuarant. The food is pretty good and it's cheap too! The bad part is that you just keep on grabbing stuff that are just in front of you so that's scary in a way, both for your wallet (cos they charge you by plate) and for your stomach. But we had a good meal and a good chat.

I bought the new (?) Nirvana album too, just cos I had all my Nirvanas on tapes and it's high time to get it on CD.
And that wasnt even on my to-get list (scroll down)! I'm going to be so broke!

But it was really nice to get out of the whole exam cram mode I have been in for about a week. And the best part is that I didnt feel guilty at all while I was out. However, when I get home, I thought to get some work done but ended up on the phone with a friend for about what 2 hours (?) so the guilt will probably set in soon though. *sigh* I didnt get anything done and it's already 4 am!

Back to studying now. I will be cramming Dante's Inferno for the day.

I thought I had better note down the CDs I really want to get before I forget:

1. The new Teenage Fanclub greatest hits. I'm thinking of bidding a promo copy on Ebay.
2. Catholic Education by TFC. Someone nicked mine I think. And I'm the kind of person where if I have most of the CDs from a band, I need to have them all.
3. Forever Delayed by Manic Street Preachers. A Greatest Hits album as well.
4. The Sounds of the Sounds of Silence by Yo La Tengo.
5. New Morning by Suede. I'm not exactly a fan now (Brett Anderson is so old somehow) but I've followed them from the very beginning, went to all their concerts (and getting hurt too at one of the concerts: some fat arse sat on my face for like the longest time, I thought I was going to die from suffocation) but now, these old geezers are just old. But llike I mentioned in point 2, I would probably get the latest album as well.
6. 40 Licks.
7. Shit. I thought I had it all listed in my mind. And I know there's one more and I cant remember! Damn
