I Will Follow You Into the Dark

Feeling a bit better after a disastrous start to the day. i didnt sleep well last night even though I crashed at 9:45 pm but woke up at 2:17 am and couldnt get back to sleep until of course, the alarm goes off at 6:15am. And *suddenly* I got so sleepy I would have given almost anything in the world just to continue sleeping. But i havent got much to give, and dont know who to give to anyways so I got up. My back is complaining now and I'm feeling old, very old. At the grand old age of 27.

It's 10:03am now and the coffee I drink every morning is taking a longer and longer time every day to take effect. At this rate, I would need to have coffee intravenously fed into my body. Surely the unmistakable signs of addiction.

On the plus side, it's 6 more days to Manchester! I've already got the days struck off from my work calendar and I'm trying to feel cheered thinking about it. But it's hard, when it's Tuesday and only 10:17am.

I'm also cheered that Death Cab's new album Plans will be out September. They can sell out for all I care (Atlantic, OC etc) so long as they continue making good music, in the words of Ben Gibbard, "I could really give a fuck."
Plans is made for Gibbard's favourite joke, "How do you make God laugh? Make a plan." In keeping with its black title, the record brings more melancholy tracks about love. "I was telling myself, "I'm going to stop writing depressing songs. This record's going to be really upbeat, '"says Gibbard. "Like, 'I will Follow You into the Dark' is a love song I wrote for my lady, really sweet and romantic. It's about someone dying, and the person they love saying, 'I'm close behind, I'll follow you into the dark.' But then I played it for her and she was like, 'This song is fucking sad!' Best to run with what comes naturally. I tried."

Woo Hoo

At long last! The Yo La Tengo 3disc set I've preordered from Matador has arrived! I cant believe it actually took the package 3 goddamn weeks to arrive. Usually airmail from US takes only about a week or so. They must have sent it through the Silk Road or something.

But it's all cool..I've got it now. I've got most of the songs already but you cant just pass up on something like this, can you?

I apologise for the lack of updates recently. It's been tough and I've been uninspired by my 9-6 robotic existence. But all that is going to change now, my friend. I'm going to Manchester for about 3 weeks and I'm ecstatic! There had been some problems with the tickets but it's all sorted out now. I can hardly wait!!

Countdown: 12 more days.
