I'd think that given the advancing invasion of technology into our homes, we'd soon outgrow the need of pen and paper. But I dont think it's ever going to be true. There is a certain appeal, is there not, in putting pen to paper and writing, instead of feeding information into the computer via the keyboard.
I like to write. I used to keep diaries/ notebooks full of thoughts and just random stuff. I havent done that for a while now. When I started this blog, one of my apprehensions is that I would somehow outgrow my diaries/notebooks. I thought: who needs pen/paper when I can just keep a journal online? Well. As many of you know, keeping an online journal is often a double-edged sword. Sure, one can write just about anything since the blog belongs to you. But who really will spill their hearts out especially when the danger of something private being read by someone else is much higher than say, your mom/dad/siblings reading your stuff? That's also probably the reason why many bloggers keep 2 blogs. One "public," and the other private.
I tried doing that too. But it's just not the same as putting pen to paper. It's in fact very tiring. I came across my notebooks today and spent some time reading them. I don't remember a lot of the events that happen but I can sort of recapture the feelings I had at that particular point of time. I'd like to be able to do that again, just for the sake of my stumbling across it again in the future.
I think I will go get a nice, new fresh notebook tomorrow to start writing again.
