It's nice to be alone by yourself sometimes, walking aimlessly through the malls. It mustn't be too busy though--it's not half as fun if you have to elbow your way through hordes of people--a weekday afternoon will be good. You walk with your hands in the pockets, just roaming around. It's almost therapeutic in a weird kind of way--and I'm not talking about retail therapy. This is different. I'm talking about walking around, absorbing whatever you see or happening around you. Time doesn't mean anything at all here--you can quit, press the "escape" button anytime--just get on the escalator and walk out of the building.
Everyone should spend about 1 or 2 hours to this experience once in a while. I feel almost like a stranger--not a out-of-towner-- but someone that doesn't belong to the urban environment at all. Yet I don't feel overwhelmed by it in any way. It's almost like an acknowledgement or a recognition of the urban world but yet choosing to step out of it for a while. It's a different perspective somehow.
